OUR MISSION

Community Healing Gardens is a non-profit organization that launched in Venice, CA on June 13, 2015.

We create urban gardens to provide sustainable, nutritious food to diverse and underserved communities.

We believe every corner with a patch of soil or some empty space has the potential to feed communities with nutrition, connection and love.

The food grown in the gardens will be shared amongst the neighborhood and provided to feed children and others in need.

OUR GOAL

Our goal is to create organic gardens in every school throughout the L.A. Unified School District, to educate and introduce the importance of nutrition, health, food safety and environmental sustainability. We also hope this will lead to healthier food options in the lunch and nutrition programs.

We have started our pilot program at Markham Middle School in Watts, farming an acre of land with fruit trees and veggies and 61st Street Elementary School in South L.A..

We will also be working with the schools, their communities and other NGOs to create an educational program to incorporate the Garden into a living classroom.
